Giornata 23 -- Preview

Match to Watch:

#11 Fiorentina - #3 Roma SUN 2:45p EST

Live on FSC and RAI

Round 4: 3-1 Roma

There’s been a lot of talk this week that Roma may be making a run for the Scudetto but in all likelyhood its too little, too late. Nonetheless, their current form is capable of beating anyone, anywhere. As for Fiorentina, don’t let 1 point from their last 3 Serie A matches, they can easily turn around their season with Jovetic’s return.

Prediction: 2-3 Roma

#6 Palermo - #13 Parma SAT 12:00p EST

Live on ESPN 260 and RAI, delayed on FSC

Round 4: 1-0 Parma

Both teams are coming off of tough losses to Bari and Catania respectively. However, for Palermo I think it’s will be just a blip in the radar while Parma, although having last week postponed, just keeps sinking, with only 2 goals in their last 5 matches.

Prediction: 3-0 Palermo

#16 Livorno - #5 Juventus SAT 2:45p EST

Live on FSC and RAI

Round 4: 2-0 Juventus

I want to say that Zaccheroni will get Juve going this week however I’m worried about overlooking Livorno. Small clubs in Serie A will do damage if underestimated, as we saw last week against Milan.

Prediction: 0-2 Juventus

#10 Genoa - #12 Chievo 9:00a EST

Round 4: 3-1 Chievo

A nice little match up that may be flying under the radar this week. My initial thoughts lean toward Genoa but only because we’re used to seeing them in the top half, while Chievo for this and last season have been mid/lower. All in all, both equally capable of taking all 3 points.

Prediction: 1-1

#20 Siena - #7 Sampdoria 9:00a EST

Round 4: 4-1 Sampdoria

A win here would put Sampdoria back on the list of teams you do not want to play at this moment. Siena is in quite the opposite position. They’re bleeding goals while Samp had scored 5 in last 2 matches.

Prediction 2-3 Sampdoria

#14 Bologna - #2 Milan 9:00a

Live on FSC

Round 4: 1-0 Milan

Both teams are happy to see each other this week while Bologna is looking to catch Milan in a slump while Milan could be viewing Bologna as the team to keep themselves out from a slump. I expect a testy one, not the most attractive game but I don’t think there’s a surprise result in this one.

Prediction: 1-1

#17 Udinese - #4 Napoli 9:00a

Round 4: 0-0

This depends on if Napoli can create the same chances they did last week against Genoa. If so, they’ll control from start to finish. Di Natale, however, is as unpredictable a game-changer as they come.

Prediction: 1-3 Napoli

#15 Lazio - #18 Catania 9:00a

Round 4: 1-1

Considering the first half of their season, Lazio is on a bit of form, especially with a draw at Juve last week. Catania not doing too bad themselves, with 5 points from their last 9 matches. This could end up being a shootout.

Prediction:4-2 Lazio

#19 Atalanta - #9 Bari 9:00a

Round 4: 4-1 Bari

Big confidence boost for Bari after putting 4 past Palermo last week. Can’t see why they won’t do the same against relegation-bound Atalanta, who hasn’t scored in their last 2 matches, while letting in 6 the last 3.

Prediction: 2-3 Bari

#1 Inter - #8 Cagliari 9:00a

Live on ESPN 360 and RAI

Round 4: 1-2 Inter

I am a big fan of Cagliari’s run this season. A win here would throw them well into the limelight, especially is Roma win. However Inter is simply unmatched. It will take more than Cagliari’s best to shake things up.

Prediction: 1-0 Inter
